On the second day of the Induction Programme “DU: Discover You” at Shri Davara University, a sensitization workshop on New Education Policy (NEP-2020) was convened for academic and non-academic staff as well as students. The esteemed resource persons included Dr. G. A. Ghanshyam, Joint Director and Nodal Officer, Directorate of Higher Education, Govt. of Chhattisgarh; Dr. D. K. Shrivastava, OSD NEP-2020 Cell, Directorate of Higher Education, Govt. of Chhattisgarh; and Shri Shailesh Kumar Mishra, Master Trainer of NEP-2020.
Prof. Ghanshyam emphasized the imperative of recognizing the ancient Indian knowledge system, regretting that Indians have neglected their indigenous roots and instead exposed themselves to Western influences. He emphasized that it is necessary to make students aware of their rich cultural heritage and legacy which have been accepted and translated by foreign peoples into their own languages.
Dr. D. K. Shrivastava elaborated on the credit system and technical terminology employed in NEP-2020, highlighting the flexibility to choose courses from a diverse pool. He said that the NEP-2020 curriculum will promote more value-based and skill-enhanced students as compared to the previous education policy.
Prof. Shailesh Kumar Mishra encouraged students to develop expertise in languages under the Competency Enhancement Courses (AEC) and adopt innovative strategies to enhance their knowledge in alignment with NEP-2020.
The entire session was carefully conducted by Professor (Dr. Manish Verma) with a vote of thanks proposed by Honorary Director Shri Tulsidas Sanghani.
